CAN YOU GUESS WHO CAME TO LOUISVILLE, KY
Posted by cherokee woman on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 8:46 PM
[8D]We just spent the evening with someone on the forum. They are in
Louisville and Jeffersonville, IN this week. And they work for Trains.com;

CAN YOU GUESS WHO THIS PERSON IS? If no one can guess the
correct answer, THAT person will let you know who he/she is on
Friday[:p][8D][}:)]

[:0]HOW did you guess, Randy?!?!

Yeah, Kathi Kube is here visiting the L&I this week. And locomutt and
I met her last night. She is a terrific person. We really enjoyed meeting
her, and had a great time with her.

NOW: are there any other forum members planning to come to the
Louisville area? If so, we'd love to meet you too![8D][;)]

Well, I looked down immediately this morning and figured out it wasn't me!

I got Mike Yuhas and you got Kathi! Don't you just love these home visits? Now if we can just get Bergie to go house to house...then have them travel in a caravan, which sounds like politici.....never mind - bad idea!

That had to be an interesting meet, if I say so.

Is Trains planning on doing something in a future issue on the L&I? I swing by their yards from time to time when I am in the Jeffersonville IN area with work. I have to get off the Eastern Blvd. exit (Exit 2) when I am there anyway.

Yeah, she is. I believe she said it would be out sometime next year, probably in
late spring, or sometime next summer. She goes home tomorrow.

Yup, ya got me.

Locomutt and Cherokee Woman are wonderful. I had a simply delightful time with them.

Joe, sorry I couldn't make it to Deshler. Maybe next time...?

And, yes, I plan to do an article on the L&I hopefully in spring or summer. It's a very nice operation -- and very busy lately.

The morning after I had dinner with Paula and Walt, John Secor, the L&I's president, drove me to Columbus where I boarded a GP-39 for the daily Columbus-Jeffersonville run. Imagine my surprise when I looked out the window to see railfans photographing the train -- talk about turning the tables! It was too funny. Then they gave chase, and I saw them three or four more times set up to take more photos. Positively ironic.

Also for the record, you're absoluely right, Quentin: I work for Trains Magazine, although that includes updating the Web site with the current issue's added content and posting News Wire when Bergie-mon is unavailable.

And, Brian, it is a pretty cool road, isn't it? I especially enjoyed riding over the bridge and going in Clagg Tower. Lord willing, at least some of those photos will turn out.

One funny note for anyone familiar with the area: Thanks to the construction on I-65 and the inherent confusion of driving around an unfamiliar city, I got lost three times. Each time, though, I ended up at Tenth and Spring streets. I don't know how. I think it's some funky time-space continuum thing. Or maybe just UFOs. But I can find my way to almost anywhere from Tenth and Spring -- I just can't find my way to that intersection on purpose. Ah well.

I had a wonderful time and am looking forward to fleshing this puppy into a story.

Happy travels![:D][8D]

I will be looking forward to this article.

Has a hot spot been issued by Trains for Louisville. If not, it's about time to do so. Lots of hot and cold running trains out here by the Truck Plant.

I'm jealous...nobody seems to stop in Chicago or the western suburbs (but everybody asks about them).

We'd love to show some visitors around (so far, only Nora has taken us up on that!).
