C&O lives on!!!
Posted by ShaunCN on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 10:44 AM
C&O and Chessie System live on at the CSX yard in Sarnia Ontario(thats in Canada for you american folks) anyway the C&O logo remains on the engine house, the Chessie System cat and words remain on a tractor(ya I thought that one was weird too) and the C&O logo remains on a old cement mixer. Also onthe tailgate of a CSX truck their is the word READING. Could this be an old truck form the Reading Company?

here is the link with my pictures on it

derailment? what derailment? All reports of derailments are lies. Their are no derailments within a hundreed miles of here.

Reading still makes utility truck bodies. I doubt they are in any way related to the railroad.

I'm glad to hear to that Chessie lives on. I think it's good that CSX has kept the logo on their engine house and on some of their equipment. I'm sure our cat whose name is Chessie, is happy too.[:-^]

That is good news! Our oldest cat has middle name of "Chessie"
I'm glad something has been preserved over the years.[:)]

And Larry is correct,Reading makes utility bodies for trucks,
although the other would be great!

C&O logo is on the front of the Prince, WV station and Chessie is in mosaic form in the floor. Amtrak 50/51 stop there.

BTW, C&O logo is barely visible on bridge in Glen Morgan, WV.

C&O logo is still clearly visible on the bridge over Va. Route 20 in Orange, just south of where the C&O (CSX) joins the Southern (NS) for the shared trackage into Arlington and WashingtonDC.

Also in Staunton, VA the C&O logo is clearly visible on the bridge over US 11. The local tourist maps even refer to it as "the C&O bridge" as it is a local landmark.

There are probably others I just haven't found them yet!

CSX still has GP units mostly with Chessie System on it; alot of their covered hopper mostly and some of their 60 and 86 foot high cubes still have Chessie Paint. It isn't too unusual to see a tri-level enclosed autorack with Chessie on it.

As far as Reading is concerned, NS still has open hoppers with Reading or RDG on it. They also use Erie Lackawana too.
