Operation Redblock was a (excuse the pun) joint effort by the railroads and the labor unions to curb drug and alcohol abuse on the railroad. <br /> <br />If I recall correctly, the program started sometime in the early 1980's about the same time as Mothers against Drunk Driving, "Just say No" and the D.A.R.E. program for teens were starting. <br /> <br />The program offered voluntary and first offense rehabilitation programs but after that, the railroads were going to get tough on violations of Rule G (no alcohol or drugs). <br /> <br />You'll see some locomotives lettered "Operation Redblock" and they came out with a lot of bumper stickers, etc for the employees. <br /> <br />run8john
