Unless FRA is around, and they have been out in force lately. Now that the NYT has weighed in on how ineffective FRA is it will only get worse too.

Ok - I will pick that one up - Children may be reading this - but they also watch prime time tv, late afternoon tv, the tv may be on when the news is on (5 pm our time) and they advertise this type of product all the time. Plus all the other nuances on the human body that need attention. So if a "child" is old enough to read about and understand trains, then they are way past old enough to understand.

Now, did I put that delicately enough?

Anyway - speaking of repainting - did the old black steam engines hold up as well on paint as the newer models of locomotives, today? Did they have to continually patch and paint on them?

Most stuff here is nothing that they don't see or hear on TV or the radio. The only thing that I think is not suitable for kids is when an adult or group of adults behaves like a group of children and a discussion degrades into a flame fest.

Here's a story related to me yesterday, fits the thread nicely. My friend "Joe" is an engineer, he is responsible for daily inspections on his locomotives when they don't make it to the roundhouse. Joe is good at inspecting locomotives. He uses a dollar bill to check brake piston travel. One day a relief crew got on his engine , he told them the engines were fine and that he checked pistons with his trusty dollar bill. A few days later Joe had to releive the same crew , Joe asked if the engineer checked the piston travel, the engineer said "no cause he only had a 20 dollar bill,"
Joe pulled his trusty dollar bill out and said "here"
