Does anyone know the name of the font used in the Erie Railroad's herald (1940's onward)?  Can it be found anywhere?  Many thanks.

My deepest thanks to both of you gentlemen for your link and suggestion.

But as I study the Erie Roman font I have to confess that to my eyes, anyway, it looks entirely different from the art deco-inspired letters I see in the Erie herald.  I mean, just look at the E's: They don't look at all the same.  Neither do the R's.

Again, I am very grateful that both of you offered the assist.  Thank you.

Hi. Found it! I realize this is coming to you very late... but just in case this of help to anyone else... I came here looking for the font, too, but you're right, it's not not on that site. It is this: "Baucher Gothic URW Extd Bold". I found it through Adobe Illustrator. I made a reproduction of the Erie RR logo with wings (same aspect as on the front of the trains). I tried to add the picture of it here, but it wouldn't load.

This is just great...for a number of reasons.

Thank you very much for this information which I'm still interested in.

It's a great font.  When was it, or the Erie logo, actually designed?

   First, welcome to the forum.

Have you read the first post in the Model Railroad forum, "How to Post a Photo to the Forums"?  (I tried to post a link to it here but it wouldn't let me do it.  That seems to be a quirk in the software: sometimes it's ornery.)

In short, what I do is send it to flickr, call it up in flickr, copy the url at the top of the screen, then paste it in my message.  This puts a link to the picture in the text.
