Jason, <br /> <br />I don't think the problem with Amtrak is inadequate capacity right now. It appears to be inadequate demand. If the Amtrak problem is going to be solved, it will have to be solved by first increasing demand but spending less than the new demand generates in revenue. <br /> <br />If Amtrak can start generating more revenue than expenses, the problem will no longer exist. Then they can invest in any improvements they think best. I'd like to see a passenger rail system in the US but I don't want public funds to be provided unless they are going to be paid back. Right now, Amtrak can not make any such promise. <br /> <br />Ed
