Double track was added between Beaumont and Fingal about two years ago, then progress stopped until a few months ago. Fingal is about 4 miles east of Cabazon. <br /> <br />Work is currently in progress to double track between Fingal and Thousand Palms, a distance of another 15 miles or so. Roadbed is finished between Fingal and West Palm Springs, ready for track laying. <br /> <br />I would suspect that within the next couple of years there will be double track from West Colton to Mecca, just south of Indio on the Sunset Route.
