Your example of Amtrak in Texas is a perfect example of why the Feds shouldn't be involved. I doubt a business would have arrived at the solution Amtrak uses there. <br /> <br />Under the current law, could a private company build a rail line from D to FW (no 'and')? Is the only barrier the power of emminent domain? If the potential ridership is there, a group of investors could go before the Texas legislature with a charter to form such a company. <br /> <br />Is Oklahoma City a major Federal Government regional center? What about DFW? I suspect you could look at the location of Federal Government offices around CONUS and find a strong corrolation with Amtrak stops. Business isn't done that way. Regards - Ed
