I know you are interested in other railroad topics, but why this special interest in Rule G, a possibly drunk Casey Jones, and Ricky Gates?
Something personal perhaps, or are you a drunk armchair railroader?
If you choose, a little background would be nice, and I don't mean to offend.
Help in my own (non-railroad, thank God) recovery is always appreciated and returned. I've been at it for 15 mostly up years with a few lapses.

No, I can't do it. The mangled spelling and syntax in the posts by you and csx are something I DO look forward to. I mean "rated" all the time, for ratted.
Let the postings on the grade crossings thread cheer you, however., One person says railroads are "murders" instead of murderers, and then every reply is using "murders".

as for my bad spelling... i dont give a rats butt if i spell things 100%... most of the time i am on here way after midnight..and tired... so my typeing skills are not that great...and spellcheck is just another waste of my time...this fourm is not a job application for me where spelling and proper syntax are a must.... take me as i am...a poor typer and speller...i try to type the best i can...
in short..im not a walking dictonary... and a bad typer...

You know - I have read other comments about poor typing, misspelled words, etc.

It slows you down a little in reading, but if you are trying to read this and drive, stop it!

Otherwise, think about it this way - some of us type for our kibble money - others run trains; others do something equally difficult. I sure wouldn't want to have to run trains for example as well as I type, or work on planes, or even run a street sweeper.

I do think that the "Jeff Foxworthy" effect comes into play here. A contributor may post a well thought out, intelligent item here, but if it is full of gross misspellings and worse grammar, its value is thus degraded.

Not everyone is a 100 WPM typist (myself included), and even the best of us have been known to ham-hand things when we post. Still, good spelling, grammar, etc, are usually held in good regard. Then, when you put poor spelling and grammar together with what appears to be a rant, my score on the contributor goes way down.

Moral of the story - The more intelligent your contribution appears, the more intelligent you will be perceived by your readers. Don't let them decide in the first sentence that what you have to say isn't worth reading.

There are people here who have very poor spelling and/or grammar whose posts I love to read because, despite the poor English, they have great questions, answers, information or arguments.

I worked as a proofreader from the time I was 14 until I was about 25, so I do notice the spelling, etc., but if the post is by someone who I know I might learn something from, it is worth it to me to dig into it and make sense of it.

Then there are people -- and not all of them have poor grammar and spelling -- who have very little to say that is interesting, informative, insightful or witty. Those are the ones that get to me...but I'm learning to just skip over them, ignore them and get on with it. Besides, someone might be thinking the exact same thing about my posts... [:D]

I alway try to read what I've typed BEFORE I hit that submit botton, it allows me to check spelling, grammer, and do I really want to say what I've written that might be like a flamethrower under someones kilt?

albert istine was a horable speller..as well as very scatter brained...thier are stories of him walking down the street and forgetting where he was, or what he was even doing ..becouse his mind was thinking of other things... and that man was a geuinous....
so i ask you...

Spelling..doesn't bother me....grammar, come on I'm from Texas......
just as long as you're not forgetting while balanced on two rails...the rest is fine with me.....
