Question on Mark Hemphill's photo in April TRAINS....

...Mark: On your outstanding photo in April TRAINS on page 55...what is the parallel line about 200 to 300' above the ROW clearly seen generally on the right side of the photo but extending left...? Is it possibly a former ROW abandoned for the one in operation we see now....?

It's an aqueduct that gathers water from Rock Creek and irrigates fields in the Crater area. Without digging into the library, I believe it dates to the 1930s. It is still active.
