Dual use of Railroad Bridges - Pedestrian/Bike co-use

If I recall properly, I think that SOME of the bridges built by Henry Flagler through the Florida Keys for his FEC railway featured an open pedestrian path. And of course, when the railroad failed, and The US government decided to re use the roadbed to build US 1 in its place, they devised a fairly creative scheme to run one lane headed one way through the bridge, and the lane headed the opposite way over the top of the trusses. <br /> <br />I bring up the latter because, if your railroad balks at the liability issue, you might want to consider this possible, albeit more expensive alternative, and see if they will go for that
