<p>I'm an over the road trucker and railfan. Used to run to Port of Oakland every week over Donner. Learned that in winter you better be ready for anything up there, carried a snowsuit, insulated boots, blankets, extra food etc.  Doubt of the suits at AMTRAK understand what it can be like on the pass in winter. The old heads on the SP sure did. Wonder if single tracking much of the line has hurt winter operations.</p>
