I'm afraid I was born to late to have seen Captain Kangaroo. I saw the story on the news and it said his show ran from 1955-1985 and I was born in 1986. I wish I could have seen him, though. Back in the 50's/60's he'd feature Lionel layouts on his show at times and would also sometimes have antique toy trains to show as well. There was an article all about it in Classic Toy Trains a while back.
