Have a Safe, Sane, and Happy New Year
Posted by tree68 on Wednesday, December 31, 2003 2:44 PM
From the far north of New York to the rest of the country, to railfans everywhere - Let's keep it safe [8D](stay off the tracks!), sane [soapbox](well, you know what I mean), and how can any railfan reading [8)] about, writing about, or watching [8D] trains not be happy[[:)] for the new year.

And keep your 'Eve celebrations [:o)] safe, so you can watch [8D] trains tomorrow. Besides, I don't want to have to scrape you off a tree somewhere. I've got EMS duty tonight.[4:-)]

On to 2004! [8D]

Tree [8D]

Thanks and you too. [;)]

Tonight come midnight I will crawl under the bed. [:0]

The idiots here love to take their guns outside and shoot up into the air. They are not using blanks either. Funny thing, most of them don't seem to realize that what goes up must come DOWN. Either that or they just don't care where it lands. [:(!] Several years ago I looked out the window and watched some of my neighbors shooting into the air just as fast as they could pull the trigger. Then they would reload and do the same thing again. Some of them actually had two clips and would shoot one while someone was reloading the other one. This stupidity continutes for about 15 minutes. The police will not come out unless they actually hit a house or someone. And only then in force will they come. But who would want to face a gun toting drunk anyway? So you really can't blame them.

In Omaha there is a large fireworks display every New Years Eve. We always watch from the Omaha Amtrak station. BNSF and UP pass by and I have had good luck with the trains every year. Let's hope it continues that way this year. I hope the rest of you see lots of trains too! Happy New year everybody![swg]

It wasn't quite what I was hoping for. One train in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Of course we missed a BNSF by about 5 minutes. Still everything went fine and the fireworks were spectacular. Hope you all have a great New Year!

Willy - ran across a question in previous posting, but too lazy to go back and look for it - Yes! We both got the same book for Xmas! I am thoroughly enjoying mine, except I love to read in bed and usually always fall asleep. Wouldn't want that book to hit me in the head! It is heavy!

Two Old Favorites of mine (neither of which are sactioned for real life...):

1, Please don't drink and drive. But if you must drink and drive, make sure you have a car.

2. Four friends have been partying very heartily at their favorite establishment, but it is finally time to go home. They ponder their possible transportation arrangements for a moment through their alcohol induce haze, then one speaks up: "George, you drive. You're too drunk to sing."[:p]
