denver's sand creek junction

Is Sand Creek Junction (BNSF/UP) a good place to train watch? Seems like a paucity of traffic in the recent past when I visited there? Sposed to be main lines into Denver yards, etc for both BNSF and UP? Any help from Denverites? Thanks...

You may find more going on at Prospect Jct, located directly under I-25 at the Park Ave., 38th street exit, across from Denny's. A busy spot at the bottom of the BN pig yard, UP (former DRG) south trains, all BNSF north, west, and some east trains pass thru here. A short distance from the BN roundhouse at 23rd st, 23rd street junction, and the BNSF main yard at 31st. Always something going on, I've sat there for hours trying to get into 31st street yard, and know the view at Prospect better than my living room!

Thanks Terry...I'll give it a rip next time I visit my daughter (in Park Hill)....What do you mean by "trying to get into the 31st street yard."?? Bob

It's a combo of a confined yard facility, shoehorned in between the Platte River and I-25. I'm former C&S, and we could really use our old yard, which is now Six Flags. The other factor is the number of movements thru Prospect..I've been told I'm six times out to get a light there into 31st street.
