Congratulations Drew! Great layout, and a great grand prize from AtlasO. CB_Fan
Re the price of electricity, our community owned system (Fairhope, AL) is charging $0.0973 per KWH BUT there's also a fuel adjustment surcharge of $0.0147 per KWH, so the total is $0.112 per KWH, a little more than what you are paying. Energy costs are very high, but I don't intend to let the price of gasoline prevent me from attending the LOTS convention in South Bend in July!
Well, here it is June 6 and my copy of the July CTT still hasn't shown up in Lower Alabama. Once before my CTT never arrived, and CTT sent me a makeup copy. It's beginning to look like that's the way I'll have to go this time, too. I wonder who's getting my copy between there and here?
Still haven't gotten my copy! Hopefully it will be here early this week.
The Foley Alabama Railroad Museum is well worth a visit, and it's on the way to the Alabama Gulf Coast beaches! The web site given in CTT doesn't (wasn't) working, but you can e-mail them at foleymuseum@gulftel.com or phone (251) 943-1818 for more information (or get in touch with me -- I live nearby in Fairhope, AL). The layout was donated to the City of Foley several years ago, and members of the informal "Caboose Club" went to Montgomery, where the layout had been professionally
Fairhope is on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay and is about 400 miles from Florence and Huntsville. Take I-65 through Birmingham and Montgomery to the Bay Minette/Gulf Shores exit, then AL 59 to US 31 to Spanish Fort, and US 98 to Fairhope. You'll want to spend the night someplace. Remember, with some 250,000 people coming for the Arts & Crafts Festival it will pay to get motel reservations in advance. While here there are plenty of things to see -- Battleship Park, a very large HO layout
