The real question is what's better to shoot GEs and EMDs with? Canon or Nikon? I could never figure that out, so I try to stick to shooting ALCos with Pentax.
You guys do realize you are talking way over the head of the original poster, don't you? He's looking for a camera to shoot pictures to display on his computer monitor and you guys are pointing him toward high end cameras and photography lessons. Most new cell phones have as much resolution as he needs for his intended purpose. He doesn't need $2,000 worth of camera and glass.
Actually, my suggestion was for an original Digital Rebel with an
Justin, There's a LOT that goes into getting a "SUPER SHARP!" photo. Throwing megapixels at your subject isn't going to help -- especially if you're only looking to display photos on your computer. Megapixels only become important when you want to print BIG. And I mean really, Really, REALLY BIG! I've printed to 20x30 with really good results with a 6 MP DSLR. I have yet to push my K20D yet, but I suspect that 40x60's would be possible if I'm really careful. So what
Thank you all for the kind words! Justin: That's actually a DDA40X...but similar concept to the DD35s. Keep up the good work on your shots. Willy: I'm definately going to have to spend some more time around Omaha one of these days. I only saw a tiny bit of it, but it proved very photogenic indeed! Brian: Thanks! I'm not the best people photographer, but I'm working at it. Don't tell that to the couple whose wedding I'm shooting on Wednesday, though! Quentin: Thanks for the
Good Morning All, Brian, those are some amazing shots. That 3716 is sure a looker! I hope you all have a safe, happy Labor Day. I've got a couple houses to stop at (most of the family went down to Trinidad for the weekend, so I'm on petcare/housecare duty), but then I'm going to see what I can scare up with the lovely light we've got this morning. Have a great day, everyone!
Hi All, Sorry I've been kind of sparse lately. Work's been crazy with reduced hours and the same workload, and I've been busy with familial activities and such since I've been back. I've finally got all of my shots processed, though, and thought I'd share a few of the railroady ones here: One of our excursions took us to Arcade to shoot and ride the Arcade and Attica Railroad. Here's the lovely little #18 steaming into the station at Arcade to begin boarding: Here's
It's been awhile since I popped in here. Wow! Lots of photos! Well done all around everyone! I sure wish I could have seen 4449. Meanwhile, in my 844 thread, I mentioned a whirlwind adventure that happened to include some train action. I've finally got those shots ready to post, so buckle up! Here goes! A fellow Pentaxian friend of mine rented a car for travel with his wife to and from Albuquerqe. He had an extra day on it, and no mileage charges, so we decided to head out on an adventure
Thanks, Dan and Larry. BTW, Larry, where are you at in NY? Next month I'll be out by Niagara Falls and have a side trip planned to the Arcade and Attica.
Driving, Chris? Any local stops?
I will be driving. I'll be stopping in your neck of the woods for one night on the return trip, Carl, to see my Mom and Sisters. I don't really have any definite plans yet. Thus far, the plan looks something like this: Day 1: Leave Denver and drive to Eastern IA. Somewhere roughly half way. Day 2: Drive the rest of the way to WNY. Days 3 through 7: Spend time around WNY. I have plans to see the Falls, go to the Erie
Thank you all for the comments! RWM - Thanks for the comments! I never saw the loco as 8444, and I've never ridden the train either. Maybe I should do that one of these years. It'd be a novel change from chasing it all the time. Quentin - Thanks for the kind words! Brian - Ummm...if you think this was fun, wait until you see what I post from yesterday's adventure! You probably won't like me very much. Ever consider a move to CO? Ed - Thanks! It is a lot of fun living out here! RJ
