There's something about post war transformers that is really fascinating. To attest to that fact, see the following list of what's available for my layout. The style and decent power of the LW puts it near the top of my favorite list. It's not really old-school in appearance but a tasteful transition piece. The KW's are really a good bang (watt) for the buck and, in my opinion, attractive in appearance. The throttles are a little cumbersome though. If your desire is for no fuss, no
Thanks. I have a Marx loco & tender which has a on piece plastic knuckle coupler. Is there any way to get it to mate with this car whiteout extensive, non-reversible modifications? What can you tell me about this all metal lithographed car? Are the couplers the tip-off? They are forked and have a non-electrical sliding shoe portion of the truck. It’s O gauge. Thanks. Tom
What's the proper amount or number of drops? Is one brand of fluid preferred over another? What about other pill-type smoke units; can they accept fluid too? Thanks
There seems to be a problem with the e-unit on a newly acquired Lionel 2055. It doesn’t seem to cycle at all; just buzzes. The headlight works ant it smokes but there is no movement. The wheels turn freely and the commutator is clean. Moving the e-unit lever stops the buzzing that is present when it’s in the other position. It looks like the e-unit in imbedded in the motor frame. So far I’ve just removed the shell with four screws on the bottom. Any suggestions other than dismantling the whole thing
Thanks for the reply but this is a set that I'm selling but without much background information. I have a few post war Lionel pieces and am unfamiliar with the whole K-Line product line. Guess they had a history too though shorter than Lionel and somewhat intertwined too. Thanks again.
Thanks for the information. I had no idea of any of this.
Can anyone tell me about this set? In particular when it was made and its quality? Seems well built but I have no K-Line experience. Here's the story; you can find it on e-bay by searching K-line Reading Classic Mining. I'd appreciate your thoghts and comments. Thanks Tom Looks like a “complete” set with engine, 9 cars, track, lock-on and transformer. Here’s what you get (all items seem to be K-Line except as noted) Description is from documents with set.: · GP series powered engine # 3407
Someone sent me an e-mail which said that at one point they had more locations but this is the only surviving one, the first one at that too.
