Brutus; I called Lionel yesterday as I hadn't read the whole coupon either. The rebate ends December 31, 20 10. So I am plannning to send several rebate coupons as stuff I have ordered arrives. T.G.I.F. ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Happy Birthday. Are you now old enough to know better? Are you young enough not to care???
The nurse's comment in the ER-"Power tools, right?" reminds me of a true story about my Dad. He worked 44 plus years for the NYC in the Track Department. He and the crew were working on a turnout at a junction when he managed to do a major number by smashing his thumb. The nurse said, "Well Mr. Hazen, How did you hurt your thumb?" Dad's response, 'I was cutting the nuts off of a frog." The nurse asked no more questions!!!
When I was a teenager, I couldn't afford smoke pellets so I used 3 in 1 oil and later Wahl Hair clipper oil although I have not tried this in any of the newer smoke units.
I purchased an NYC Tugboat at a train show in Jacksonville. I think the smoke unit was fried before I used it the first time. I finally got up the nerve to disassemble the unit and replaced the circuit board with the resistor on it. It smokes up a storm now. Brutus; Noticed that Lionel dad shipped the Gateman on 10/23. Was on Legacy Station site earlier this week. They no longer had the Gateman listed. I called yesterday and they said they would ship mine out. Waiting for it to arrive!!!
10/23/2009 Lionel shipping schedule says the Halloween Gateman has shipped!!!!!
I have been using oil on my tracks since the early 1960's. I first used 3 in 1 but switched to Wahl Hair Clipper Oil in the 1980's. It is the only thing that allows my Z gauge train to run the loop and that takes several attempts after the trains have been sitting for a period of time. It does cut down on the wheels sparking on dirty spots on the track. I haven't checked to see if there is an adverse affect on the traction tires.
My NYC Tug Boat is 19" long, 4.5" wide, 8.5 to top of smoke stack, 14" to top of tallest mast.
I ordered parts on Line from Lionel a couple weeks ago. They arrived this week. No problems.
My 11th and 12th grade math teacher dropped this pearl of wisdom on us back in 1957. You know what B.S. means. MS = More of the Same PHD = Piled Higher and Deeper!!!!!!!!!
