The last time I saw these two BL2's was about six to eight years back and they were then stored next to the WSOR (formerly MILW) roundhouse in Janesville along with a couple (perhaps three) Wisconsin and Calumet F3 units. The BL2's then went to Green Bay to the museum mentioned...now they have resurfaced....which is great to see.
We see loaded eastbound coal trains on the BNSF come through Aurora on the triple track line all the time and many have WPS reporting marks on the cars...I believe this stands for Wisconsin Public Service...could these be headed for Pleasant Prairie? If yes, what is the routing they take? Thanks
I heard this story as well on WGN this morning. I don't expect any immediate visible signs of change but as I live along the BNSF triple track "racetrack" in/out of Chicago it will be interesting to watch and see if there are any long term changes...but I expect not since BNSF is already a well run railroad.
Classic Trains is very rapidly becoming by favorite rail magazine. Classic Rock, Classic Trains....I must be aging quicker than realized. ed
Wow, isn't that the truth with so very many of us...at age 59, I wait anxiously for my newest edition of Classic Trains as well.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is KEEP IT PRIMARILY AMERICAN RAILROADING RELATED (say 95% plus).
Well, as of 10:47 a.m. CST this morning they were running trains on main #1 according to the still shots from the Rochelle web cam...however, there is definitely some big work going on there now...looks like a total tie replacement but the big crane might indicate a change-out of the diamonds or perhaps a replacement of the signal bridge(s). Perhaps our friend Carl can shed some light on this issue?
Here is a photo I found on line of the derailmenet...hope the photo comes through so everybody can see it's impact on the bridge.
Maybe he just likes passenger trains. Jeff
Or perhaps he is just what I have thought him to be for several years now...a decrepit, over-the-hill, angry with everything old poop (word used in substitution for what I really wanted to say but couldn't since my Madonna comment caused the entire thread to be removed by our loving censors) who needs (oh, please let it be) to have his eyebrows trimmed by an equally angry barber.
