Would one of your two methods be reflected in the diagram below? I don't see the PowerMaster in there ... so method 1 ... ? I also have a Powerhouse-180 Watt that I'd like to use too. Thank you for the excellent explanations!!!!
Trainman, I'd love to see photos of your installation of your new fan-driven smoke unit in your PE loco. I'm very disappointed with Lionel's design of the PE smoke units! With as many Lionel PE sets that have been sold - a person could make a living by swapping out the junky smoke units for a nice fan-driven one. Anyone looking to start a new business
I'm just about to start the construction of a new control panel that will allow me to run either TMCC or DCS engines. I was wondering if any of you have tried a similar setup to the diagram below? I appreciate your input.
Chuck - thanks for the input. Right now I just have a loop of track setup with TMCC and an LW transformer. I can run my CAB-1 locos and use the LW to run my post-war engines. I'm not a rocket-scientist on electronics, but I want to incorporate my recently purchased DCS system into my simple layout. Do you know if I'd find a better "setup" in Kalmbach's recently published book "COMMAND CONTROL for Toy Trains" by Carl Swanson? I need to get the DCS out of the box and
How about the Old Faithful Geyser? You'd have to have a strong fan behind it to get good height on the smoke. Then you could set it up to go on every 3 to 5 minutes. That would actually look really cool on a layout!
I'd like to see someone (maybe the fine people at CTT) build a Christmas layout that can be accessed via the internet. Here's a German layout that you can control via the internet. Here's the link: Internet Train Layout Once you open the link below, click on the "Control Desk" tab. This will open another window with a diagram of the layout and a webcam of it too. First you click on the layout destination for the train. Then you select the train you want to move and click on
Boyd - by the way you think, I can tell you are a true Minnesotan. Always thinking outside the "ice" box. Similar in nature - has anyone experimented with pouring a clear resin over track with just the rail-heads exposed. It would be one way to model the Polar Express going over the thin-iced lake. A person could get really creative with this using jagged plexiglas to represent the ice giving way. Maybe some blue lighting under the resin to highlight the breaking ice. If I win the lottery
Be sure to Google the item you're looking for too. I've also search Craig's List via www. searchtempest .com - it'll search all cites across the US. Did you try the manufacturer's web site? Good luck!
Is it correct to assume the diameter is measured by the center rail of the track?
Any way to tether that blimp from your ceiling? A modern one of these with a programmable digital display would be really cool. I have a Mattel Verti-Bird helicopter that ends up on my layouts from time to time. Positioned correctly, items can be picked up off the train with the helicopter's under-body hook. Cool item.
