Does anyone have a picture of a weathered 4-6-6-4 challenger in N scale that they would be willing to show.
I want to know about the real thing not a model.
What is the max grade you would run for a large steam engin down hill with say 20 cars.
Does anyone know what the max grade these locomotives can do?
Is there anything you can do to help with the traction of your locomotives?
I didnt really get what you were saying, but ok
But I think that "ham99" uses N scale and he has a 2.5% grade on his layout and he pulls 11 cars with his Challenger. He said he had no problems with that. And also im not going to use 6% grade any more im thinking more along the lines of 3.5% for my challenger line and 2.5% for my diesel line.
I was sitting around wonding if anyone has scale weighted there coal cars or any cars to the real wait by putting lead weight in side or in the bottem of the car and then glueing coal over the top of the weight or putting the box car back on top of the weight. The only problem I can see with this is I dont know if you could pull a 20 car length train up a 2.5% grade unless you had several helper locomotive. Let me know what you think of this and if anyone has tried it does it work and give a sence
Thanks for the great info I think I might have what I want know.
What did you use for a rust color.
