Would there be any problems running LEDS in passenger cars using DCC track power? I know they are polarity sensitive with DC voltage. But they seam to work fine on AC voltage from a DCC system. Just wondering. Thanks, Truck.
I have the Proto 2k Alco PA it came with a mars light that has 3 leads on it. I also bought the MRC OOO1803 decoder and it has all the connections for the proto installed mars light, it operates from the F3 function button I Beleive they made a decoder for the Proto 2k E-8 also, I am not sure. you would have to do some home work on that.
I DO USE RESISTERS. I was pretty much wondering if AC current was bad for the LED's.
I put jumpers on my code 100 peco switches via tortise machines and I have no shorting problems. I also took out the detent spring.
I am using electrofrog turnouts. And I have a DCC system. The tortise's are being operated by two Digitrax DS54's. All the tortise's are doing is switching track. Only the motor wires at terminals #1 & #8 are being used. I guess the reson I asked about the detent is that I took it out of the first one I put a tortise on and it didn't put enough pressure on the switch rail to make electricl contact. After fiddleingwith it igot it to work. But I think I am going to leave the detents
Just wondering if I should leave the detents in the Peco switch tracks or not. I am installing Tortise's. I know this could be a matter of prefference. But some input from those of you that may have already tried it both ways would help me decide. Thanks, Truck.
I have got a DS54 the instructions show you how to program it with a Digitrax throtle. They also say if you are using a different dcc system check with their instructions on how to address the decoder. But the MRC instructions tell you to check with decoder manufacture to set up the decoder with addresses and cv's. What I need to know is has any one out there programed the DS54 with an MRC system. The DS54 is 4 stationary decoders in one. I need to program each of the four outputs to control
Thanks guys I figured it out . I was mostly having trouble with addressing it. From acc. #1, #2, #3 & #4. To #'s 5, 6, 7, & 8 on the output addresses because I have two DS54's. But I learned you have to pull the jumper out or it will keep addressing to the last acc. # you put in. With all that said I have installed it and got the first tortise on a switch track working. And it is sweet. The good news is I have only 9 more tortise's to install. Thanks again, Truck.
Its not that I try to hide it, I make good money, but she is the penny pincher type wants to buy the cheaper stuff, me I like the high perf stuff. and I have to hear HOW MUCH DID THAT COST? I guess opposites attract.
Do your wives ever nag you about how much you spend on trains? No matter how hard I try to hide stuff I buy She still finds out.
