I need to make some custom decals. Now I've done some digging around online and found several types of clear water slide paper that look right. At $1.00 a sheet, or so I want to be sure I get the right ones. I'm going to be working on plastic not brass. Does that matter? Which ones do you use and why? Are any better than others? Jay
Yes. Here in Greenville, NH there was turntable at the end of the Boston and Maine branch line.
Thank you all, especially you Tom, for your answers. ANd you too Mark for stopping your "naive" comment where you did. I use the forum as a learning tool and find most of you out there kind and ready to help the new age of modelers. Thanks again, Jay
Why go and get a brass engine? Are they so much better than plastic that it's really worth more than double to cost? I'm not slamming brass here. I just would like to know what drives you toward brass. Is it all in the detailing? Are they better runners? More specific to your roadname? Any or all of the above? Jay
I have no experience with the LaBelle products. But the Woodland Scenic Hob-E-Lube's have kept my steamer fleet running just fine. The instructions sent with them have proven very valuable since most loco's are shipped without any maintenance information. Jay
My wife is the talented one. She handles all the weathering details. I'm terrible at it. She does a fine job. Jay
Uh, oops. No idea what happened, or where. But I liken this to sitting at a restaurant and hearing a large platter hit the ground. "That looks and sounds expensive!" Jay
Interesting thought. And I too doubt you could get NS to allow it. Simply walking down the tracks is illegal. And we can easily get out of the way of a 3 mph train. But setting something up in the ROW? Sounds far fetched. But I wish you the best of luck. Jay
Okay guys here is what the folks over at Blueline say: Basically do not use a decoder with the pin on the board. Use a Digitrax 143PS and not the IP. I need the room to clear the sound board. Problem solved! Thanks all. Jay
First weekend in a while when I cannot get anything done outside. Or at least today is a washout. So I'm re-running all new bus and feeder wires. Seemed like a good thing to do as what I had was a total mess. Wrong sized wiring, poor connections, etc. Headed out early this morning to Ocean State Job Lot and got the wiring and connectors and saved a bunch. I've already got about half the layout re done. Jay
