Only thing that might stop me from buy another set? I found a pair of PK 1000 Rio Grand F-3's A and B powered (different paint) for $69.99 at K-10 Model Trains. Any one that wants a Stewart set for $59.99 PM me, K-10 Model Trains still has around 15 sets. Cuda Ken
Ken, Beware of the Proto1000 Rio Grande F3's. If they are what I recall, they are a phase version that the Rio Grande never owned. The Proto1000 have the chicken wire between the portholes
I bought a Athearn RTR a couple of years ago and its been nothing but trouble. I won't buy another RTR from them. Hope your SD60 dosn't give you any more trouble. Jamie
Good! More RTR sweet detailed tunnel motors for me! I can't get enough of them! And they just keep getting better and better. But seriously, you are dissing a whole line of loco's because of a single bad experience? That could happen to any make, including KATO, Intermountain
IMO, the my Stewart F units are the best running engines I have, maybe only the KATO GP35's are as good! But no wonder because KATO made the original Stewart F units and the later versions have even been improved on when they were made in the US before Bowser took over.
user="DMarker" Developing a Freight Car Fleet - Connecting Roads?
Yes
I'm starting to develop my freight car fleet. My modelling goal is Soo Line freight in Central Wisconsin in the late 1960's. I've read the guideline - 50% home road, 25% connecting roads, 25% everything else - for developing a plausible fleet, and would like to follow that guideline. I have two questions that I could use some help with. 1. What are my connecting roads? I've done
Hi all, And any thoughts on why this imbalance may be the case? Cheers, tbdanny
I can count the number of actual female model railroaders I have read about in the magazines since the mid-1970's (MR, MRG, RMJ, and RMC) on two hands. I'm sure there is more but its a 99%+ male hobby - I blame the genes. My fiance is threatening to play with my trains so I might have gotten lucky here.
The ExactRail are not the style with the full length side sills I see the BN cars. They have the notched side sills so thats not what I"m after. The Eel River cars are the needed version. Mike, I appreciate the suggestion but I'm not modeling the 1940's, but rather the 1970's and 1980's. Eel River made a very cool PC&F 61' beer box car which ran around the west. In my case they ran out of Golden Colorado and up the Front Range of the Rockies on the head end of hot shot
Thanks, it looks like the website was just off line for a few days.
Saw the title and thought it was IT as in Information Technology. Cliff notes of the original post so I can know what the point is?
It did the same thing for me too, must be another URL got embedded. Just copy/past http://www.railshop.net to you browser address bar and it brings up railshops site.
The only thing I have from my child hood days is my Lionel Hudson steam engine. The tendere is missing the sound unit because yours truly took it out as a kid. I loved to take things apart.
