Well, first I put it on the layout. It ran a bit sluggish. So I cleaned the brushes and commutator sections and lubed and oiled the gear shaft. Now, it runs great!! How fast is the trolley supposed to go?? Not as fast as a gang car? The light inside works just fine. Now, the roof...is it supposed to be loose?? Or is it somehow attached on to the trolley? Other than that all is good. It reverses just fine and the antenna swings around like it is supposed to. My trolley maybe goes about 6 inches per
Thanks, I will check it out how it snaps onto the body. Thanks.
My layout is 15x8 and my outside loop has 4 lockons. And that main line goes the perimeter of the layout. I would put a lockon every 5 feet to 6 feet of track roughly. Thats what I do and I have no issues. Yes, its more wiring. But, you dont want to stress the transformers or engines. I have 3 loops and a gang car/trolley line and adding lockons is easy, just the wiring is a pain. Thanks.
Ok, got it. The set does come with an MTH transformer and MTH track. I have the super bowl 40 and 43 high cube boxcars, but do not have the first 4 super bowl high cube boxcars. I know the dash 8 that is in the set has electronics, I dont think I will even put that dash 8 on my layout. Unless I use the MTH track and transformer that it uses in the set. I will play it safe and just use the Boxcars and the caboose with my tubular PW track and PW transformers. Thanks.
Kurt, I will be at that show on Dec. 13th i think it is. I have been a TCA member for a while now and always make it to the shows in Cranberry at 9:00AM. At the show I have seen some steelers trains, but have never seen this set for sale. This set is on my wish list. I guess I will have to look for the set at the show. You might be the only one that will have this set. It is a hard set for me to find. I would like to complete my super bowl train. Thanks. See you at the show in Dec.
I was wondering, will this set work with lionel tubular track?? And also, will it be okay to power the set with a ZW or Z transformer?? I know the sounds from the set will not work with it being powered by a Z or ZW. I mean, are the mechanics and electrical okay to run on Postwar transformers? I was thinking of buying this set. But, wanted to make sure the engine will run on my layout powered by Z and ZW transformers. Thanks, any input is appreciated.
I have a mix of old and new track. The passenger cars are 2530, 2531, 2532, 2533, and 2534. The lionel lines cars from the postwar era. Thanks.
I have a 2344 ABA and 5 passenger cars on my main line loop running the perimeter of my layout. the longest stretch of track. I have the dummer A first, then my B unit, then my Powered A Unit, the 5 passenger cars. When I go around one curve, my dummy A unit's front truck derails all the time. But, When I am not pulling any passenger cars, it does not derail. I noticed when I pushed it by hand by itself, the wheel does come off the rail. I am thinking the wheel is bent or the track is bent. I
I found out what was wrong. There was a dip in the track. Where I screwed down the track, the tie was bent down, thus making a dip in the track. And this dip in the track was right at the curve. So I fixed it. It was a different curve than what I thought. I fixed the problem and all is good now. Thanks.
I have (4) Z's, (1) ZW and (1) KW. I have a grand total of 57 Amps drawn on all transformers and 690 watts total as well. Z#1: 11 Amps, 180 watts Z#2: 11 Amps, 60 watts Z#3: 10 Amps, 50 watts Z#4: 12 Amps, 170 watts ZW: 9 Amps, 130 watts KW: 4 Amps, 100 watts As given a Z and ZW can handle 15 Amps and a KW can handle 10 Amps. I never run more than 4 throttles at one time. Usually have all my 022 switches powered up and one loco running at a time. And 1 accessory at a time as well. I have a total
