DUST! I have some serious cleaning to do. All my trains are on the layout. On the main lines ready to roll (if there wasn't so much dust) There is a K-line Allegheny with 30 or so hoppers on the upper outside loop, a Lionel U-36B with mixed freight on the upper inside loop and a Santa-fe FT A-B-A with passenger cars on the lower loop.
Just wondered if anyone besides me would like CTT to have a mobile app for the website.I don't know if its something they would be willing to do, or can. But it sure would be nice.
I think you can use a Radio shack 9V rechargeable battery. I seem to remember there system even lists this as one of the uses for it.
TAS is the company that no longer sells to the public. ERR is still selling to the public. Give them a call they should be able to help. They have helped me out in the past. There phone number is (408) 454-4127 or (408) 454-4128 Jason
Thank you for the detailed instructions and pics. I will be doing a polar express and a SF 4156 from the Super Freight set (same boiler casting and wheel arrangement).I also have the same question as Ed. Can you describe the function of the cherry switch. From an earlier post I was thinking it would make the smoke "puff". Again thanks for the detailed photos. Jason
After noon all. Its been a while but I'm back. A new computer will make it possible to post again, and the kids back in school will give me more time. Nothing new to report here. Hope all are doing well! It will take a little while to read some past post's and catch up with all that is going on. But at least it will be enjoyable. Well thats all for now going to clean the basement (train room). Have a great day all. Jason
I did a 2026 the same way bfskinner described.
In my opinion smoke units are a wear item just like tires on a car. With the amount of smoke people want you need a lot of heat. Eventually the wicking will burn and need replaced. The heating element that makes the heat will burn up and need replacing. And eventually the whole thing is going to wear out and need replaced. I average about 3 months on the wicking and 6-12 months on a heating element. I always have the smoke on!!! I also quit using the boost button. I found this to shorten the life
I have 38 postwar switches. Twenty o-22 and eighteen 0-72. All switches are supplied with 18 volts to the coil through the fixed voltage plug. The lights on the switch machines have been modified and are supplied with 6 volts.
Doug- if you are talking about an American Standard Champion , there is now way you or the kids will clog it. Had one for a year then replaced the other two in the house with the A.S.C. The champion never got a clog even with 20-25 baby wipes my daughter put in it. It even swallowed 3 Fisher Price Little People.
