Ok, I have some old Tyco/AHM/Model Power Locomotives and I am being constantly told that the motors in them are no good because they are a "pancake" motor.. What the heck is a pancake motor? The 3 locos I have that are made by Tyco/AHM/Model Power are as listed; Alco S1000, Alco C430 and another Alco C430.. Now, I am the type of teen who cannot leave anything alone.. I have had the shells off and the motors pook exactly like the ones found in today's model trains, they have the driveshafts
Ok, Thanks guys! I only have one loco with a pancake motor right now.. It is an Old AHM Plymouth switcher and it has later model TYCO running gear.. I lost a gear for it but I remember that it ran like a top..
Thank you guys so much for the help!
Hi Driline! I still Have the BN 912, Amtrak F40 as well as the Bachmann GP 40's(both Alaska and Chessie).. The rest are in my dads mini-storage..just have to manipulate him to get them out..
I don't use just regular old nail polish remover, I know it melts plastic from experiance..I mix it with water and that seems to be slowly working..slowly..
Hi guys and gals, I have an older unit and when I was younger, I spray painted it several times.. It is a Bachmann GP40 and I have found that sanding it in some areas works and in other area's, using nail polish remover works..However, is there any way to remove the layers of spraypaint without ruining the original paintjob, or am I screwed?
I bought it because I have always liked the EMD F-45's and the SDP 45f's that Amtrak used, they are a key piece of history, without them, there would be no EMD F40..
As requested, I took pictures of it today, hopefully this will help..
Hello, I went to this show on Saturday, it was alot better than how you described today's.. Price's were okay, but I found that some were just plain bogus..The only deal I got was I went to purchase a used EMD F45 and a boxcar and the guy gave me the boxcar for free..
I do agree, it was like a giant flea market, and I find it hard to believe that it was ,to quote the flyer, ''The World's largest Train Show''..Even the Used stuff was expensive! I saw one guy asking $90 for a used Alco RS-3 that was missing couplers, railing and other stuff!
