Okay, I'm confused. How does leaving the barge 0/5/3 keep it balanced. I understand yard capacity, but why then didn't they pull pull more evenly?
It doesn't. In real life the barge would lean to one side but not enough to cause it to capsize. While this could probably be simulated, I dobt it would be worth it at this point. Irv
The problme with IR is that i/t is a line of sight method that can easily be blocked. Radio doesn't have that problem especially if you are dealing with a DT402D and the UR92. The system has range of about 300 feet from I have heard so you don't have to worry baout the signal being blocked or even be out of range. Irv
You're at a hobby shop or you receive a new order in the mail? I know I sure do. My parents just don't understand it.
It's kind of hard to explain to one's wife why a supposedly grown man would act that way. So I don't. Irv
I have a question on train ferry's and doc alignment . When the ferry pulls in to line up with the land based rail system how do they get the boat first to line up with the rails from side to side and then up and down. I would assume that water levels change and up and down elevations would be difficult. Then once they start unloading how do they keep the boat from dipping to one side and not dumping the cars over board or tilting to the rear and running
Although people did have parts of their layouts dedicated to urban railroading, I think it wasn't until George Sellios came along that people really started to realize what could be done in that area. As far as why more people don't do it, I guess it's different for different people. People living in crowded urban areas maybe want to have their layout be a "getaway" to a more rural, scenic area...and maybe people living in rural areas feel more
Anyone tested and used "Green Snot" traction tire goop? How does it compare to using traction tires?
The product is called Bullfrog Snot and it is not derived from the stuff that comes out a frog's nose. There is a good review of the product in the latest issue N-Scale Magazine. Irv
My July copy of MR arrived just a few days ago and you guys are already commenting on the August issue. Come on, that´s not fair! MR should review their distribution policy - releasing a magazines 5 weeks before the month starts is, IMHO, way too early (or does the US run on a different calendar than the rest of the world - could be, we still have to find out what other changes the Bush Administration introduced in those 8 years... )
The magazine publishing
Hey y'all, New to the forum, but been a MR reader for quite some time. I grew up around the hobby shop my grandparents owned (now closed, HL Childs & Son in Northampton, MA) and had a nice little 8x4 HO layout I put together myself quite some time ago. The store closed, I eventually moved away for college, and while I was gone the family needed the space, so the equipment, track, cars, etc was all packed up in boxes. Got out of school, apartment-hopped
I have enjoyed watching Cody's Office since the very beginning. What happened to it this week? Is it now being replaced by Jim Hediger's reminiscences? Irv
Google it. Or ASK. Or any search engine. You'll be surprised how much will come up.
Been there. Done that, but didn't get the T-shirt. There is still alot I don't know and need to know that isn't on the web site or elsewhere on the internet. Irv
