I think a big issue about the magizines is that they are not getting as much material.

Looking through some old train magizines (yes I can't wait even a month for the next issue), I came across a section in Model Railroader called "Student fare ." Although no longer in MRR, this section allowed younger modelers to ask questions, share tips, and even share photos! Surely many of the younger model railroader's benefited from this.
