Friday morning here....we have the sun taking over and appears the overcast is dissipating into partly sunny for today....Mid 40s now...
......My opinion of course is only from the fan side.....Steam engine headlights perhaps had a rather good capability to shine far down the track with the reflector designed to project the "pencil" shaft light concentrated to a narrow area. Power should not have been a problem with the steam powered generators to supply the power. The 40's and 50's wasn't quite the "dark ages" in lighting, but of course no way near the technology it is now. But as an example, automobiles
Yes Quentin, ESSO was a great company. Remember the EXTRA KICK with hta?
Yea, Tom......and "A tiger in your tank".....Atlas tires, with a great guarantee.....Golden Esso....Esso Extra.....And of course just plain Esso. Our station was built in 1938 and serviced rt. 30 that passed thru and {1938}, bypassed our little town, which is where our station was located. Back then The ESSO operation {Standard Oil}, was highly regarded as a quality
Quentin; I remember the dark blue Eastern States Standard Oil tankers with the steerable rear tandem axles.
\ Cannonball......That's a fresh one on me. Our central Indiana day is progressing with overcast skies, and mod. temps.....Mid 40's. Had a bit of light rain overnight, but nothing right now. Waiting for Sears "installer" to arrive and complete new stove project and hopefully that completes a couple of years of renewing everything.
The Paramount in Indy was on East Washington Street. Just think, Quentin, that if you went there in the 70's, you may have sat next to my dad and me.
.....Thank you Tina for the comments. I hope you enjoyed the Pizza better than we did since we have the great "Pizza King" products in Muncie, I suppose we're spoiled. Music though was great...! One comment: We now have a brand new Music school facility at Ball State University in Muncie that
I even remember Diane Sawyer when she was the 'weather girl' on WLKY
Paula: Jane Pauley started out as a news reporter on WISH TV in Indianapolis and Dave Letterman was a weather man on a local Indy TV station during the same {general}, time frame. And yes, he was nutty back then....Nothing was serious.
....Yes, sorry to say, ESSO disappeared quite a while back. My family built and operated one for 45 years.

And yes, he was nutty back then....Nothing was serious.
