Hi Bill I've never had the pleasure of replacing wheels on a locomotive yet but have heard that it can be quite painful. As I cannot find anything myself other than general instructions I would suggest one of two things. First, try your local hobby shop and see if there is someone there who knows or 2... there is a new product called Bullfrog Snot (not kidding) that is used to add a rubber like compound to drivers that has them act like traction tires. I also have a 4-6-2 that is not a very good
I need some help as I have a new Model Power 4-4-0 American that I can't get to run properly as it is really light. I hace installed DCC in the tender and have put a little weight in there as it would pop off thetrack when backing up but I need help with getting some more weight into the cab - boiler area of the locomotive. Any advice especially concerning dis assembly is , as always greatly appreciated.
My standard response to anyone who may be a witness to my behavior is " I may have to grow older but you can't make me grow up"
As I read through this post I noticed (more likely I didn't see) that there was no mention of using ceiling tiles to make a rock face. I remember an article I read and the finished product looked alot like strata formations and the process was fairly easy. Bust the tiles, glue the pieces together, trim to fit and paint to match (If it was only so easy ) Best thing about this method is that it can be built on a benck and cut to fit. Don't know if this helps but don't think it will hurt
First and formost..... My wife's permission As i like scenic area's, trees, maybe a stream and a reason to be there.
Just went through that myself. Steamers would cause a short just as it passed throught the frogs. Pizza cutters would rise up and either de rail or cause loco to lose contact. I read through the forum and came up with 2 suggestions that have worked for me. Deepen the plastic at the frogs using a small piece of an old hacksaw blade. It's the right width and if you go slow you can't see the mod to the frog. 2nd "Borrow" some clear nail polish and paint the rails with it about 1/4
Never under estimate the jumping power of a cat as they will always find a way to get where they want to go. Have 2 of em and one caught me off guard hiding on top of the fridge during a 2 am snacky run.
Looks great. Keep you busy
Kind of a hot post to jump into for my first time posting but here goes... I first got interested in this hobby by seeing the cover of the March 05 issue of MMR. Once I started reading, I was hooked. I have made a deal with the domestic CEO for some space in the basement and hope to begin construction within the next couple months. Nothing to large and I definately have no idea what the finished product will be but the ultimate goal of my layout will be to have my son develop an interest in something
