Just curious what the routing is of western coal to Kingston Tn. BNSF with DPUcomes north out of Chattanooga to Harriman, a wild guess of 2 or 3 trains a week as they blend with eastern coal.
After seeing what destruction of houses, farm land three rivers polluted wih coal ash from a "safe" containment pond with 6.5 million cu. yrds. in Harriman- Kingston Tn. area I would choose not to live close by a coal fired power plant.
Loading of 300 million cu yds of fly-ash was started at TVA Kingston, Tn 7/2/09. Its being loaded in gondolas lined witha plasticliner-bag with a zipper and straps to contain the material. Uniontown, Al hazardwaste site will be recieving the as in 88 unit trains eventually increasing to 110 cars, with one train a day being loaded. Cleanup of the spill of 5.4 million cu yds over 250-300 acres area including the Emory river will take several years.
While not RR related as already brought up, the PRT on a R3350 radial engine 3 prts fed by 6 cylinders each adding 150hp each which is free hp. Always wandered why big engine builders haven`t tried this.
Just a short note on the MONON road engines, the passenger engines wore the Indiana colors and the freights had the beautiful colors of the PURDUE BOILERMAKERS.

Forgot to include a question in my other post, while transporting hazardous materials the shipping papers listing the item or items in the load must be within reach of the driver while driving. Does that rule apply to the engineer?
