Right now Bachmann has three truck Shay for HO but they are known to have a cracked gear issue. Your mileage may differ. Search the Internet for shay cracked gear. Replacement trucks are available or send the loco back to Bachmann for a replacement. Micro Mark and a couple others have good prices. Rich
The frame has to be modfied to allow for the speaker. The modified frame with trucks back in place. Ready for the headlights and decoder. !6mm X 25 mm speaker and baffle. Speaker and baffle in the loco shell. Next will be to install the LokSound Micro v3.5 with 44 ton sound.. Rich
[quote user="MRRSparky"]I have the older version 44-tonner with the incandescent bulbs. I removed the original board to make room for the LokSound decoder, replaced the incandescent lamps with LEDs (cutting off the original lamp holders to make room), and attached the speaker directly against the cab wall opposite the "engineer." I use the blue sticky stuff meant for attaching posters to walls to hold the speaker in place. It provides and airtight seal, and it can easily be removed
Our club has been using that idea in a boxcar since the 1980s. Works quite well. Rich
I just checked Micro Mark. They have them. $69.95. You must understand, this stuff comes from China in batch form. Think container ship. They sell out in about a year or two. Sometimes sooner. Quite a few months ago, Caboose Hobbies had a a lot in stock. Now on order. There have been a couple postings here about online shops. Sounds like you need to update your list. You can also do a search for Bachmann 45 ton and you will get many hits with possible online shops that have it in stock. Some ebay
One online dealer loves MTH. They pull the DCS decoders and install DCC stuff for custromers. Win, win situation. Rich
Email Dave at NWSL. Here is a link which will make this easier. Store the link. Dave does answer email. http://www.nwsl.com/ Rich
Very simple. Use a pair of double clip leads to connect the controller to the tender wheels. Don't ever use the Micro Mark driver brush option. You will end up with tiny scratches on the drivers. Rich
