You are quite right an I intend to do this when I have time, but if a simple solution is not found then replacement is a distinct possibility. The BLI Cab Forward is a great model which runs well and I want the sound to operate to match the loco's looks. Thanks for the comment. Philip
I recently purchased a BLI Blueline Cab Forward DC loco with factory sound and the sound system is disappointing to say the least. So far I have been unsucessful in getting the exhaust chuff to function and after some communication with BLI they have sent a read switch for me to fit. However in the mean time the static sounds (dynamo, pump, relief valve, etc) have developed irritating static (no pun intended) and then stopped working all together. (probably a poor connection to the speaker which
Thank all for your comments. I already have a BLI ATSF 4-8-4 which I am very happy with and your advice has convinced me to buy a BLI AC4/5. Anyone got any suggestions on who offers the best price? Cheers Philip
I am considering purchase of a cab forward, AC4, AC5, AC12, it doesnt matter, I just like the look of these locos. So the question is which is the better running model, BLI or Intermountain? I run DC and would prefer sound if that helps with the feedback. Philip
Thank you all for your collective advice. Cheers Philip
What is the concensus of opinion- Is it necessary to prime brass before applying the colour coats when painting brass locos? I use floquil paints and have an Aztec airbrush. Which primer is recommended? Many thanks Philip
Hi guys, thanks for the good advice. I have P2000 Y3 which should be ok with the decoders but also have a United Consolidation and a PFM Berkshire which has a Pittman DC71- i know these are current hungry, so will have to consider the re-motor situation first.
Can anyone suggest a readily available sound system for retro fitting to older HO DC steam locos. Once you have a loco with sound you want to retro fit it to all your locos??
To all those that responded- it is now fixed and running perfectly. The problem is I am not sure what fixed it. I gave it to my Dad to look at in case I had missed something- he confirmed all the same symptoms and reset the options and hey presto it worked!! Just shows that sometimes we look for the most complicated causes and the "old guys" look at the basics and solve the problem. At 80 my Dad is still smarter than me!!!!
Hi Guys, I have a BLI SF 4-8-4 and was initailly very happy with it but it has developed a problem which I so far havent been able to resolve (see my other forum posting) On the other hand I also have a P2K 2-8-8-2 which is superb. It will comfortably pull 16 X 40ft hoppers plus caboose up a 2% garde around 30" raduis curves, is beautiflully detailed and a quite runner. I also have 2x P2k E8s that are reliable and great pullers. I purchased two to pull a 10 car Athearn S/lined passenger car
