CP 7309 was built in 11/72 as LV 322. It was acquired by D&H in 1976 and renumbered 7322. It was renumbered 228 during the Guilford era. After Guilford jettisoned the D&H, the locomotive was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudson at their shop in Mountaintop, PA, and renumbered 7309. CP retained that number when it acquired D&H. Well, if you consider the detail and overall quality of the locomotives and cars specifically developed for the RTR line (SD45-T2, Santa Fe 50' reefers, etc.), a RTR SD70ACe would fit into the line quite nicely and provide some serious bang for the buck. I think Irv would approve.
Chicago & Northwestern had 4 FP9's as well and they used them in freight service.
If I sign up for a Yahoo account, will it take over as my browser? I hate it when things take over when I don't want it to. Ken
No, it won't take over.
As you can see they have black trucks. Some trucks where painted silver, right? Black trucks and fuel tank, just do not look right to me. Hope for some pictures before I start taking them a part. Cuda Ken
Ken, see if you can scare up a copy of Diesel Era, Volume 10 #4, July/August 1999. In there is an extensive article on DRGW F5's, F7's and F9's with lots of black and white and color photos.
I recall an article in Railroad Model Craftsman sometime in the late '80s or early '90s that suggested that uneven joist spacing under the plywood would cut down on accumulated sound transmission. Or, you could turn your DCC sound waaaaay up.....
1. Approximately 3'-6". 48" dia. 2. Trucks have a 9' wheelbase 3. 61 3/4" 4. 15'-2 1/2" 5. 25" 6. Top of rail to centerline of coupler is 34" 7. 10'-6" You're welcome.
GP38's and GP40's use the same frame. The drawing of a GP40 in Kalmbach's Our GM Scrapbook shows a length of 59'-2" from coupler face to coupler face, 55'-0" between pilot faces and 34'-0" truck centers. What other dimensions do you need?
Athearn had bought RPP out, and that's where the GP35 and SD45 come from. Maybe they will make those or a C30-7.
Athearn has also produced the CF-7, GP60M, GP60B, SD38 & SD40 from RPP tooling.
The Walthers California Car is just a Superliner in Amtrak California striping. The real cars have two entry doors on the lower level on each side. Phbbbbt on Walthers..... Edit: I missed their disclaimer the first viewing that they were Superliners that were being leased to Amtrak California. I retract the raspberries. However, doing real California cars would have been the classy thing to do.
