That's great news. The Lenz/CVP combo is the same as our clubs system. Very good system for sure. On the CVP throttles there is a little known glitch that will kill your batteries if you leave the dials on 0 even if the switch is off. I have some locos that the numbers end in double 0 and was wondering why my batteries were going dead. CVP told me of this glitch. Glad you found the problem. Pete
Derf Here is all you need to know. http://www.wiringfordcc.com/switches.htm Pete
Terry The track wires do not get hooked to the panels. What the panels do is connect together with the telco cables to wire a throttle buss. If you have a large layout with a lot of panels than a power supply is necessary to help power the receivers. Pete
The DSD decoder was a large decoder. You would need a large tender for them. Save yourself some heartache and get the TS micro for your N scale. Pete
I asked how large your Buss wires were because if they were too light than they themselves will cause problems like acting like a fuse instead of a wire. Please answer the other questions. That way we can get a better understanding and help diagnose the shut downs instead of guessing. I have sound locos that draw almost a 1/2 amp just idling with its lights on. I also have a Bachmann 2-8-0 that draws almost a full amp working and spikes over an amp with the whistle blowing. I also have sound locos
Remove the factory board and hard wire a decoder in. Red and black wires to the track pickups. Orange and gray to the motor brushes. If you want a headlight than those wires are blue and white. A golden white LED for a headlight and 1K resistor or a 14 volt bulb is needed. Pete
How large are your buss wires? Do you have enough feeders? How many locos in the round house? Is this a five amp system? Have you done a quarter test around your whole layout? If your going to have more than 10 sound equipped locos in the RH district than you may need a booster just for that district. Is your booster/ command station running cool enough? Pete
Mark Call me old fashion. I drill with a drill bit next to the tie. I strip about 1/4 inch off the wire and tin it. Bend a 90 degree in one direction then bend it again and solder to the inside of the rail. Pete
Patrick What system are you using? Did you change either CV15 or CV16 on either decoder? I hope not. Try programming on the main with both decoders installed. Then after programing the address program CV29 = 34. Then try moving the unit. Here is a link to the HO scale forum site at BLI. At the beginning there are tips on programing with different systems. http://www.broadway-limited2.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1&sid=2d8c35f872e42d65a8128a3a6e1cd07e Hope this helps. Pete
Welcome back. Hand lay with CVT ties and ME rail is probably as easy as flex track and a lot better looking. I started making turnouts for my upcoming layout using code 40 , code 55 and a branch line of code 70 rail. Code 40 and 55 rail on CVT ties is very doable but needs a few more track gauges to get right. I made some home made from washers and machine screws that work really good. My turnouts take about 2 hours to build but are flawless. Semi-scale wheels don't even click on the frogs. An
