Thanks for the replies everyone, I made an error in my original post. It is a 36 "x80" layout pcarrell, the layout is a walk around so I will be able to reach all sides. I'll see if I can add a connection to "the out side world". That's a very good idea. I tried tilting the plan but it moved some of the track too close to the edge. Mouse, I see what you mean by the main shifting over, but I don't really think it does. I think it's just because of the way the crossovers
Hi all, I had to destroy my old layout because my house is being remodeled and the new floor plan doesn't leave enough room for a layout that size. I've decided to go with a 30"x80" hollow core door for a few reasons. 1) I don't have enough room for a larger layout. 2) I want a layout that I can finish before I graduate high school and leave for college. 3) I don't want it to cost too much. To be honest I'm becoming more and more interested in trucks and the majority

Hi all, Can anyone tell me what's going on with this line? I've gone railfanning along this line (between Grand Rapids and Fennville) a few times in the last few months and each time I've seen nothing. I've been going on weekdays between 5 and 9pm, which is usually the time that I can catch an empty coal train or a mixed freight, but lately I haven't been able to catch anything. The last time I went I noticed that a pair of crossing gates had been installed at 138th Ave and a
Hi all, I've always been fascinated with grain elevators, mostly because there are about 10 of them within 5 miles of my house. I'd like to have a somewhat accurate model of a grain elevator on my N scale layout, but I need some inspiration. So if you have a grain mill, elevator, bin, silo, or anything that has something to do with grain, please post some pics here. It doesn't matter if it's stock, kitbashed, or scratchbuilt, I'd love to see it. Thanks in advance.
rs2mike, thanks for the complement. The track curves around the backdrop, goes down a 2% grade and then connects to the track that runs under the truss bridges.
Very nice, the weathering looks great, thanks for sharing. If you don't mind I have a couple of questions for ya. How did you paint the end grabs and what did you use to weather it? Thanks
Great thread guys, lots of good info here, but I'm still confused about a few things. I'm about to make my first ebay bid so I have a couple questions for all you "ebay experts" out there. (The item isn't MRR related, but it's a part I desperately need for my summer hobby) The description is very vague and has some incorrect/misleading info in it. I clicked the "ask seller a question" link and I sent a question. Is my question emailed to the seller or does the
Thanks for the tutorial Dave, well written with great pics. I love these kinds of threads!
