Well here it is. The 2009 edition of the TRAINS.com Forum member photograph. They actually let us behind the cash register this year. Probably because we had two very trustworthy representatives of TRAINS and Kalmbach with us this year. I believe that dknelson has the attendance sheet and can fill in the names. Thanks for coming out and letting others see the face behind the name. For more photos from Trainfest 2009 check out Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/22338037@N04/sets/72157622693465175

I can verify that the MNSE will be open on Saturday after Trainfest from about 7pm to 9pm. Like Dave says we will be at Trainfest available for questions. Keith
Matt, It was good to see you and your presentation Friday night. Great to hear that you will be part of the big photo on Saturday at the "Booth". Keith
Greetings, Trainfest 2009 is drawing nigh. For the last couple of years we have attempted to organize a TRAINS.com Forum photo at Trainfest. We have met with mixed results and nuimbers. So lets try it again. Trainfest is held in Milwaukee, WI home of Kalmbach Publishing. So we usually meet at the Kalmbach booth at Trainfest. Lets try 12noon on Saturday November 14, 2009 at the Kalmbach Booth. Here are some particulars for Trainfest. This isn't set in stone lets see what works for folks. When
I have trouble getting mine to be pristine. My pictures always have people in them. George
We just try and get to our spots early, sometimes it seems a bit too early and then hope that everyone else understands the theory of the photo line. Which doesn't always work, but usually does. I have put up some video's from the Fall Excursions onto YouTube. Check them out if you wish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKjBYsdzCy8 http://www.youtube.com/watch
Greetings, Got back from the Friends of the #261 Fall Color Excursions pulled by the Southern Pacific #4449 Daylight. The weather was a bit unexpected. About 1/2" of snow fell early Saturday morning in the Twin Cities and the temp was about 25 degrees in the morning. The cold weather might have been bit tough for those riding and chasing but it sure made the #4449 show off some steam while running between Minneapolis and La Crescent, MN Saturday and Sunday. I was lucky on Sept 9, 2009 when I caught what I believe is an Alco S-2 working in the Milwaukee, WI area. This Alco works at the Nidera Grain Elevator at the Port of Milwaukee. It only comes out maybe once or twice a month when grain cars need to be loaded. I was lucky to catch it in the nice morning sun. I'm not really crazy about the color, but it sure sounded nice. I have uploaded a couple of videos shot during Train Festival 2009. The first is of Nickel Plate #765 showing off its two different steam whistles. I didn't know #765 had two different whistles until then. Below is a link to the video on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INSC4EFRolE The second is a bit longer and has several run-bys of the SP #4449 on both Thursday and Friday's trips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h69vSbB8-IM Keith Schmidt
Got down to Sturtevant, WI last Friday evening. It was a beautiful evening so I grabbed some shots of the old depot. Only the "witches hat" section was really visible. Managed to catch a shot of southbound Hiawatha passing the depot. After thinking about it my Grandfather worked for the Milwaukee Road from 1919 to 1950 and almost everyday he worked he would have stopped at or run passed the Sturtevant depot. He worked the Elkhorn to Corliss(Sturtevant)train and then the Milwaukee to Chicago
