Even if it hit at 25 mph, the mass is such a great force. Ive hit things at 25 and you can feel the 40 ton just power through it. These GG1 and train is MUCH more mass than a simple 18 wheeler.
I think there is a GG1 in the PRR Rail Museum near Strasburg. Did they sustain any losses or damage from the batteries (If any) on that locomotive? Revisiting the pantograph question, was there a option availible to transition the traction motors from drive to generative braking? Was there even the time?

Im not certain of any other wrecks than the one GG1 that fell into the station's basment. I understand that they boarded it over, made a floor for people to use and later dragged it out, fixed it up and ran it some more. Those particular locomotives were very strong. Back in those days they built em to last... something I lament that may not be possible today. Your Computer's Calculator in scientific mode should reveal Hex and Binary values. Enter a value 0 to 255 under DEC value and then select BIN for binary to get a corresponding value in bit form.
