I started to lay some of the flex track for my new N layout. As I normally do, I draw a line on the foam for my cork and then I put a line on the cork for the track. However even though I make every precaution to make sure that the track is straight, when I look down the track versus from the side there are some waves in it. To correct this I grabbed by laser level and shot it down the length of the run I was doing and placed the laser line on one of the rails. As long as I make sure laser stayed
PCaroll.... Great.... Thanks for the help, another question, the manual version, do they have the ability to be wired up as well? and they just come with out the wires and the slide switches? Or do I have to buy the version that has the wires and the switch and just throw the switch away? Thanks Ryan
Hello Everybody..... I am about ready to start laying track for my new N scale layout.... The last item I need to pin down in the type of switch I am going to use. I am committed to Atlas for due to price per unit, however I would like to use Tortoise switch mounts. However 15 bucks for each of them and then another 8 or sow for the switch is alot to do at once. I was thinking about using the snap switches and the slowly convert them over to the Tortoise over a period of a year or two. Are the switch

I have been using the No-Fumes version of Liquid Nails for projects and that has worked really well. Last weekend I pulled up about 100 feet of HO flex track with no major issues using a putty knife. Some of the track still stuck but about 95% came up with no issues. Also much of the adhesive came up on the cork versus staying on the foam board. In fact it pulled up so well that I will be using the same foam board for my n scale layout.
I have moved down to N scale from HO mainly because in my room size I want to run longer trains in the same size space. The lay out is an L shape about 12 by 17 feet and generally 3 feet deep. I am still on the fence of what type of track to use either code 80 or 55 and have a bunch of questions on the track. 1) How well do the tortoise switch machines work with N scale Atlas turnouts? I was going to use atlas mainly because I can afford them better then Peco. 2) What is the performance of Code 55
Looks like I had some success last night, I tried just moving the main bus wires over to the Prog A and B terminals and recieved a No Pwr on the DT 400 Terminal. The point to which the feeder wired is connected to the track to where the engine was sitting is approx 25 feet away since I am still putting in track feeder wires. After that I grabbed a short piece of flex track and soldered 2 wires up to it and moved the bus wires back to Rail A and B on the DCS 100 and connected the short flex track
I will give this a try tonight on an isolated piece of track with Programming terminals. I didn't hook up the Programing Terminals because I thought those were if you want a dedicated programming section only, but it sounds like that may might be my screw up..... Right now this is the only engine on the track and let you all know what happens. They run perfectlly when selected to address 3 as expected, but they just love that number too much... thanks for the suggestions, more to follow...
I am trying to reprogram my 2 engines one is a Atheron Amtrak AMD103 with a Digitrax DH163 decoder which I installed. The other is a Bachman SD45 that was DCC Decoder installed. I tried following the instructions, however after I input the address and then hit the Enter button on the 400 throttle, I see a "No-d" or similiar appear and I can't go to the next step of enable ing the 4 digit address as specified in the instructions. I even tried to just change the 2 digit address and something
