Before you go too far find the switch that says direction. There are two wires going to it. Cut either one and check your loco for operation. Our PE engine did the same thing. The switch was shorted inside. Ed
I am in Ocala. I have a large model airplane collection, thus didn't have the option of another room in the house.I purchased a 10 X 12 pre-built handi-house. I insulated and finished the interior, added a 5000 BTU AC unit which runs at 77 degrees all year long to keep away condenstion. It has been about eight years with no problems. Cheaper than building on a room. The AC raised my elec bill about $12.00 a month. If you like this option keep away from deed restricted property.I have one friend
If the hole is okay, just the threads wiped insert a small piece of plastic in the hole and glue it.Don't fill the hole just get a sliver of plastic or two into it. Now when you put the screw in it will bite. Ed
I run those smaller cars exclusively.I think they look better on a smaller layout. I have some pics posted of my re-paints at community.webshots.com/user/otftch. Ed
Here's a good way to hold the insulators in place that will not damage the engine.Put a small drop of Elmers white glue on the bottom of the insulator and let it dry.The insulator will stay in place when you install the pantograph. This will not make the pantograph stay on any better but it will install easier. The white glue will come off without damaging the finish if need be, Ed
No it is not line of sight. With two video cameras hooked up I can run my trains from the kitchen or living room. The train room is fourteen feet away behind two walls. Ed
Look into a Lionel CAB-1 setup. It requires a couple of pieces to set up,commnad base, powermaster etc,but functions as a conventional hand held very well.I control five tracks with mine and find it much easier than reaching for handles.
The body will fit on the frame although the handrails are a little different. You might have to work on the mounting but that would be no problem.Add some weight and will pull pretty good. Ed
If you take a small screwdriver and scrape away the black on the inside of the rail it will solder fine. Ed
I use 027 track of different radii and all 027 0r 042 switches.I put down my track with great care, even soldering over some of the joints to make them smooth.I can run complete trains backwards anywhere on my layout.About 80% of my rolling stock is running on sprung trucks.I have checked and adjusted the guage on all wheels.Still I have the occasional brain fart where I do something stupid, throw the wrong switch, not pay attention to what I'm doing, back up too fast when switching or just do the
