Sorry, but I don't like changes... I'll deal with this mess because I have no choice if I want to continue to be a member of the forum, but I don't support it at all. Tracklayer
My layout is blue foam board glued down to plywood with Elmer's wood glue with news paper glued down on top of that with a mixture of 50% water and 50% wood glue covered with plaster. I built it four and a half years ago and haven't had any problems with it. The trick is to paint a heavy coat of wood glue on your plywood with paint brush, put your foam board down and put heavy books on it to hold it down tight until it dries which will take three or four days at 80 degrees - at least it did

Hello gang. I was digging around in the storage room the other day and came across my collection of Time Life books The Old West series, and of course the first book I grabbed was the one entitled The Railroaders... Man alive. I can't even begin to imagine the harsh conditions that those guys had to work under. They had to deal with indian attacks, rival railroads, weather, elements, nearly impossible odds, etc. It's a miracle they were able to lay the tracks and accomplish what they did
The answer is no, of course not. Case and point. A friend of mine called me a few years ago and said he had bought a train set on sale at Hobby Lobby and that he had sat it up on his den floor and was running it around and invited me over to come see it. When I got there I found that he had the track taped down to the hard wood floor and had the telephone poles and so forth just sitting around where ever they looked best to him. The only thing I can say for him is that ignorance is bliss and he was

I won't touch my locos or rolling stock unless I wash my hands real well first. And I've freaked out more than once in the past when friends or guests have touched or picked up one of my cars which I wiped off with a wet paper towel as soon as they left. I'm real funny about that. Tracklayer

If he thinks he got a good deal then he did a fine job, as long as he's happy. Who CARES about these stupid Ebay threads talking about someone who got suckered in. You don't know the story. Maybe he's far from any Hobby shop, maybe he has been looking for this item for a long time and has no other resorces to get one. IMO
I bought a couple off of eBay about a year ago that I really like. One is of general railroad history showing various roads, and the other is about the Nickle Plate Road Berkshires in the 1950s and the Pennsy during the transition era. I think I got both of them for under $10.00 including shipping and all... Tracklayer
Some people don't have access to things that the rest of us do and will gladly pay way more for it than what we will. I'm a big collector of classis movies, and last March I bought a movie grab bag of ten movies of various titles with no choice as to what I would get for $20.00 plus $5.00 shipping. When they came in they were all adult XXX. And no, I didn't complain and gave the seller an A+ all the way!... That's the best deal I've ever gotten so far in my six years of doing
