Thanks for the replies guys, looked on RMT's website and it is indeed a "Buddy" RDC model. There are a lot more paint schemes available online in addition to the ones Historic Rail is offering. By the looks of it and the descriptions I've found it may be pretty neat. I might get one to see if I can upgrade it to TMCC or something, since it comes with no sound set.
Does anybody know who makes these? http://www.historicrail.com/product_info.po?ID=22146&product=Models+and+Kits&category=trains&subcategory=Passenger%20Cars It looks like a pretty good buy for what you get. I'm curious since I wonder if additional non-powered RDC's are also offered by whoever makes it.
I have the Norfolk Southern version from several years back (before Legacy - it was TMCC equipped) and it's one of my favorite locomotives. And, yes, it's not scale, but I run it with scale cars (just like the guy in the video) and it still looks great. The horn on that Conrail unit is awesome!
DM&E has GP38's, so Lionel could do it with their GP38 tooling with traditional freight cars, but maybe some of the more advanced ones, like the auto carrier, hi-cube boxcar and waffle box, etc. I'd go for that!
It's an impressive loco, but It'll be interesting how that thing gets around curves...O-72 may be a little sharp!
Has anyone seen any of the 2009 Lionel introduction freight cars in Hobby Lobby yet? I'm mainly interested in the BNSF auto carrier, and I know they had the Conrail one from last year. I've only been in one Hobby Lobby since the 2009 cars were shipped (about a month ago) and they didn't have any yet.
Yep I know about the 40% off coupons, it'd be a deal to get a car at that price, except every time I have one Hobby Lobby never has the car I want... Seeing as they had all of the 2008 intro cars (that were in the Lionel R-T-R catalog), I was curious as to if they had any of the 2009 cars yet. So far, I haven't seen any, but the last time I was in Hobby Lobby was in mid-July, so things may have changed.
Off the top of my head, I'd say my favorite paint scheme on a railroad currently is BNSF Heritage III, it's so bright with the orange (which happens to be my favorite color), yellow, and black. I like Heritages I and II as well, but III is my favorite. Of course, I'm kind of biased since I'm around BNSF most of the time. Second on my list, hmmm...maybe Norfolk Southern? Simple enough, but pretty sharp I think, especially with their current "horsehead" logo on the sides and
I agree with everything stated above, the rule is incredibly ridiculous. Though, a few thoughts: 1. Try (again) try to not let this get you steamed! (I know it's hard!!) As others have stated, try taking your photos off of the platform. I do this all of the time, and actually, you sometimes get some better shots if you're a ways back. 2. If you still want to take pictures on the platform, just go some other day. Really, I've taken photos and video on the platforms of two Amtrak stations
Yes, I think Lionel's finally starting to see that most people don't have enough money to spend on O scale locomotives of this degree. Even if most people did, I myself can't imagine spending that much for one engine - $500 is about my limit, but I tend to only buy diesels. And I can't help but wonder if some of the "Vision" features are just a little too much? For instance, I don't see anything wrong with a steam whistle with actual smoke effects - at first - until
