Be sure to stop by the Northeastern Wisconsin O Gaugers club layout at Trainfest. This is our 2nd year there. Unfortunately I can't attend, but there will be a great bunch of guys there willing to chat about our passion for O gauge trains - running almost all manufacturer's goods. NEW O runs on Atlas track, and has had a club modular layout for the past 10 years - our club is 11 years old. Have a great time at Trainfest!
That's what it is all about... fun with trains. let's keep it going!
Our local Menard's had about 5 only of the flatcar with Menard's race car, but my guess is that they may have been left overs from last year. As of last week, not a lot of Lionel exhibited yet. I did not check this week - might have more now.
I believe you are correct... I have 2 in my train room and am very glad I purchased them, but this was when they first were advertised many years ago.
To my recollection, Lionel did not sell them. A company in Indiana was selling them in various Lionel versions - MPC white/red/ blue, Lionel orange (LTI), Lionel 100 year emblem, etc. They also offered other stools of various trademarks. I ordered them through my train dealer to get his discount and less freight cost. They are very well made, durable and the seat does spin. No rips yet in the covering. I bought my son a stool with the Ford Mustang GT re-issue (2005) emblem but I do not know if this
I have the 726 Berk and it does run on my O27 layout satisfactorily. Care needs to be observed as it travels through switches - speed restricted zone is enforced to avoid any derailments. The 726 is probably one of my favorites of my collection. 1947 vintage is matched up with a 1997 Railsounds diecast tender, so there is a bit of weight going thru those O27 curves...
Yes, it is indeed a spectacular steam engine. My son and I chased it from Alma, MI to Owosso on one of it's journies during Steam Fest. We got some great shots of it as it crossed over country grade crossings. Since my daughter resides in Portland, OR., it gave us special significance and "attachment" as well. Long Live the Daylight!

In full agreement, I only regret waiting too long to snatch a deal on the C&NW passenger set of last year and finding them all sold out at regular prices. I am hopeful that another attractive consist will be the highlighted store set for this season, maybe with diesel on the point.
My sons and I started our collection in 1986, when MPC rolling stock was both plentiful and affordable. We found by using the Greenburg's Guide to Lionel Trains 1970-1991, Volume 1 a very good reference to seek the rolling stock we were interested in, and were quite sucessful at regional train shows. They have good quality from our standpoint and look very good on our O27 layout. It was a way for us to quickly build our railroad empire with some quite realistic paint schemes and variety of types
