I have a different option for you, having already tried to introduce my 3 year old daughter to model trains. I was not easy. She wanted to grab them and make tunnels with her legs and all the things that kids should do with trains. Unfortunately, my constantly telling her not to touch quickly killed her interest. I couldn't find a way for her to play with my trains and not destroy them and my layout. For me the perfect solution was the Lego Duplo train sets. These have tracks that my daughter can
I bought a Graham Farish (British N Scale) starter set a year ago. It has never run great. All I really wanted to do is get some track laid so that I could focus on building structures and scenery. But these passed couple of weeks, determined to get the locomotive running well, I reluctantly decided to become a tinkerer. I got some good advice on cleaning track, lubrication, etc from my "Stop and start locomotive" posting last week. But the suggestions did not work. As a last ditch effort, I took
Thanks for the good advice everyone. I will give the cleaning and lubrication a try.
I have track on my first N scale layout, which is a table-top variety with a simple loop. When I power up my locomotive it runs rough for about five minutes and then stops. If I put it away for a while and try again the same thing happens. My transformer does have a circuit breaker and perhaps I am tripping this. If so, what could be the problem? What other problems could be associated with this erratic performance? Any answers would be appreciated.
Passangerfan, this is just the information that I needed. Thanks for the help.
I am interesting in prototyping two trains: the Pioneer Zephyr on its 1934 route between Kansas City, MS and Lincoln, NE and the Flying Yankee on its 1935 route between Boston and Portland. I am having difficulty finding route maps or schedules on the internet and therefore can't find the towns in which these two trains made stops. Does anyone know where I can get this information?
I am planning to buy my first n scale trains. Although my primary interest is in British railroads, I am unsure about the quality of British model railroad manufactures. How does a company like Graham Farish compare to companies like Fleishmann, Roco and Trix?
