Hi Kevin Yes you should stick to one scale, but I cannot tell you that Because I am working in OO scale and 16mm scale at the same time and even had some "N" on the go at one stage as well. Its all a case of what you want to do and can afford. regards John Busby
Hi Ian WOW!! Better still because that one really caught my attention. What does the builder do for NZ 'G' stock to go with it haven't seen any NZ kits advertised anywhere. regards John Busby
Hi guys A number of you have expressed a desire to build or bash a UK locomotive well at the risk of out lawing. Get the UK Mag Garden Rail no 169 start page 20 this tells you how to bash a Bachmann spectrum no82097 Porter into a Dubs NZR A class loco, two locos for the price of one an NZ and a UK one all in the same loco . Be warned its a Vic type bash start with a perfectly good loco and throw most of it out regards John Busby
Hi Looks real good are you going to make the signal? in the photo of the real station. How do passengers access the station there doesn't appear to be a ramp. regards John Busby
Hi I did not know you could still get them. I have one and it got a lot of my old loco's running better and it markedly reduced the amount of track cleaning I had to do. They are real helpful on DC railways I don't know how much value they would Have on DCC set ups. Building a new layout where did you get it as I am going to need a couple more of them. You must use the little electronic component with it and make real sure you have not wired it up incorrectly regards John Busby
Thanks Looks like I need to find a copy of the mentioned book and maybe some older model railway books on wireing printed before all this new electronic stuff regards John Busby
Hi Guys I have a number of old 50's electric semaphore signals which scale out quite well and work. I intend to use them hiding the base could be a bit tricky wiring the signals is straight forward as they are twin coil solenoid operated so wiring the signals and pairing the ones that should be paired is easy with a CDU But how do I wire it so that stop stops the train and if possible caution slows the train neither is mentioned in the instructions, I guess that was not an issue back then I know
OH CRUMBS!! Now the red wire is connected to the oh forget it!! Looks like you got my old OO scale panel Erm I think you need soldered conections and everything loomed up properly but it looks like thats what you have been doing regards John Busby
I'M JUST CURIOUS, IS THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE A STANDARD GAUGE RAILWAY OR IS IT A NARROW GAUGE RAILWAY??? MARK.
Thomas and friend's are std gauge trains for the most part, there is also a 2' line refer-ed to in some stories All of the original Awdry text was most railway like in its operation (UK) unlike the Brit Alcroft rubbish.also all of the Thomas characters are based on real UK locomotives coach's and wagons. Hornby does quite a range of
Hi Les Well I suffer from ducks disease as well . I use 3 feet from floor to what I call the 0 point of the layout ie the lowest level that will have track all other dimensions I take as above or below 0, scenery looks best if it goes above and below the tracks. Your bench work should not be wider than you can reach if you are into extreme model railroading then go for 3 feet wide maximum, track to the front scenery to the back it can be reached for construction on a step stool if necsasary.
