Train forums not only inform and inspire me, they entertain me. I think visiting the different train forums has become a sort of hobby in of itself to me. My two boys and I are beginning construction on an N scale layout after enjoying our O gauge layout for several years. I will visit MR's forums frequently in search of information and ideas in the coming months. If it weren't for the forums, I doubt I'd know as much about electric trains or even have remained interested in them. To
Oh, and they may or may not work 100% as advertised with a CW-80 transformer. Most people who have Williams say that it works fine. But some maker's trains don't always play nice with other maker's transformers. Jim
Williams trains are "traditional", not scale. They are completely compatible with Lionel, K-Line, MTH products, and will work fine on FasTrack or any other 3 rail track system. Jim
I'm hoping to hit the 2 Reading layouts, the one in Wakefield, and the one in Georgetown. I'll be wearing a red St. Louis Cardinals ball cap. I'm a Red Sox fan, but EVERYONE here wears a Sox cap. STL stands out! Jim
Incredibly realistic! And the process seems fairly easy. Thank you for an excellent tutorial! Your tree looks superb! Jim
I'll be there. If you see an ugly guy wearing a red St. Louis Cardinals hat, say hello. I think the show is always well attended, and don't find the children there to be a problem. And not for nuthin', but the food there is always good! Jim
I've seen plenty of scale dogs lifting their legs next to a fire hydrant. But never seen one squatting over a freshly squeezed dog turd, so that's my vote for least favorite.
As a newcomer to this side (2 rail scale) of the hobby (my kids and I have a Lionel 3 rail layout), I see that a lot of people on this forum have the same thoughts about their layouts that I'm currently having. What do I want to include on and leave off the layout? How much space do I have? Which scale is right for my available space? What era? What roadname? DC or DCC? Etc...This has been an interesting and informative thread for me. Jim
My 2 boys are 5 years old this year. I thought I'd buy them each an HO diesel locomotive. A Walthers NH Alco for one, and a Bachmann NYC FT for the other. We don't have DCC yet, but I might buy the DCC version of the FT. Jim
I guess I'm in the minority, but I liked both of them. The second place winner created a wonderful New England scene using techniques I've never heard of before. Looking forward to seeing what the first place entry will look like. Jim
