Chief, Taking her down to spend the winter in Kinston. Much nicer winters there. Tim
Hello everyone, Haven't posted anything in a while, seems like spring and summer just fly by anymore.... never seem to get caught up with projects around the house and yard. Bob (my son) is "unfurloughed" from Norfolk Southern again, and been getting out pretty frequently. Mostly he works at Lambert's Point; coal seems to be a hot export item again lately. Wonder if that means anything for the economy? Last night he worked the South Branch switcher, something different for a change
I believe the gentlemen who run Western and Eastern Depots are brothers. Have bought from both and always had good experiences. Tim
A heads up for any New York Central fans out there - Boscovs has a Lionel/K-Line NYC freight set on sale for $75. It has a Plymouth Switcher, box car, tank car and illuminated caboose. If interested, you can see it at www.boscovs.com , than search for Lionel and look through the items. It doesn't include track or transformer. Have a great day! Tim
Boscov's still has ywo sets available at $75, Wisconsin Central and Kennecott Copper. Go to www.boscovs.com and search for k-line, you will go right to them. Good Luck! Tim
I ride Amtrak from Virginia to Connecticut about once a year; I like taking the train for the following reasons: 1. It beats sitting in traffic in Delaware for 3 hours. 2. It beats sitting in traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike for three hours. (and paying a toll for the privilege (privelege? privelige? whatever...)) 3. It beats sitting in traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway for three hours (try that in July....been there, done that!) 4. It beats sitting in traffic in western Connecticut for three
I'm not sure if 1979 falls into the MPC era (The box says Fundimensions), but the Trainmasters from that time period are great engines, too. I have four (Espee, Virginian, CNW and Southern) and they all run great, and didn't set me back too far financially. (All four for @ $700.) They have two pullmors so they have no issues with pulling power. The paint jobs aren't perfect, but I cant see the problems as the engines run by, so I don't care. Maybe some day I will upgrade them to TMCC
Hello all, Done putting down new wood flooring for the day. From now on when I see people on TV say it is a one day job I'm just going to laugh..... there days must be longer than mine. I have been looking for references that cover the MPC era also. I like the MPC stuff because it isnt expensive, and there is a good selection available. I've been collecting Trainmasters lately, what great engines they are! Probably my favorites (for the moment...) Bob - if you reprint I'll buy one, I
Brian, The phone number is 201-438-1266. Good Luck Tim
Good Evening All, Snow flurries here in Tidewater, but no accumulation. Fife - Yes, Roanoke is an amazing place to spend a few days. We found a great place to park where we could watch the trains coming in from up north plus watch the cars coming down off of the hump. Seems like a good place for someone to model, if you have a LOT of room. All of the talk about doughnuts reminds me of Hagelsteins bakery on Woodward in Royal Oak. Any of the Detroit folks know it they are still there? They were probably
