Rudy, I think you are being a bit harsh in the matter. They certainly have the right to advertise thier product on thier own website; my complaint was that every time you changed pages they popped up again. They fixed that, you only get it when signing on, then it goes away. Yes, it's a pain, but I can live with that.
to find how to rig a boom look at ship models or photos of the time. it was baSICALLY the same til the 1960's.
Sounds like something to try.
Paul, is it smooth or brilliant? I thought it facile (that's getting it without the benefit of vaselene).
Since he's new to all this, maybe he stumbled on the site and forgot where he posted the question or how to get back here. I note that he got good knowlegable advise though.
Walt, since ours is a very limited segment of a limited interest hobby (as all the manufacturers say) I doubt that theivery is what you have to be concerned about. I'd be more worried about vandalism. Put a 4' chain link fence around the yard and mount a sign "protected by PAWS and JAWS mobile alarm system" with a picture of a German Shepard on it and you probably won't have any problems. In 4 or 5 years on several forums i've only heard of 1 case of somebody having GRR
Greg has it! Scalecard offers rulers in all the many g scales. short metal ones to wallet plastic to long plastic ones. I carry one in my wallet so when i see a figure in a store I can tell if it will fit.
I find that among the big 4 (Aristo, LGB, USA, & Bachmann) Aristo has the best reputation for service after the sale. Thier 5 year guarantee means exactly that. If the parts are available they will make it right. I hear Heartland is good, I have no knowledge about other manufacturers, although they are out there!
Spike, the ones you refer to as 10 foot don't have the micro switches! Only the #6 switches have them, they are the ones that are 3 feet long.
Brian is right about the route. 301 is a much nicer ride and just as quick as 95. Stepdaughter lives in Richmond and we go that way several times a year; I used to go South around (40 miles longer) just to avoid I-95; now we use 301 exculsively. You also asked about shops. Just outside Philly in Broomall is Nicolas Smith, (suffice it to say look at what you are buying very carefully) If you go over the bay bridge, on the Annapolis side, in a shopping center on your left when westbound sits Star Hobby
